How I communicate with my landlords

the email I sent my kindly landlords this morning (we have no ac in our apartment):

Hello dear landlords,

I am writing to seek guidance. While it vexes this South Carolinian to have to admit she’s *dying* from the heat of the coldest city in America, the truth is… we’re DYING! My question is this: Do you have any advice on keeping the place cooler? Is leaving the windows open helping or hurting us? We have several fans, but they almost seem to be making the climate feel more subtropical.

We don’t want to surrender our Southern pride and succumb to the call of the window unit, but we’re fast approaching the point of desperation due to the fact that the heat is robbing us of sleep! Guide us!! Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, and sorry for the histrionics! I’m clearly feeling dramatic this morning.
