What a wonderful weekend! On Friday night we joined our lovely friends Dave and Claire to grill and watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony! We (Dave) grilled Brats, Squash and Zucchini, Sweet Potatoes (my favorite), Onions, and Corn! <—Not sure why I decided those were all proper nouns. The food was great, but the company was even better. And the opening ceremony was extravagant and glorious and hilarious.
Saturday morning I woke up early and joined two of my best girlfriends, Rachelle and Debbie, for a trip to the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market. We filled up on fresh sweets from the bakery and all came home with fresh fruits and veggies. Joe and I spent the rest of the day in and out of napping and reading, and then I got in a great workout! Afterwards we went to our favorite burger joint, Burger Jones, and enjoyed a nice night out just the two of us.
This morning we were able to bring an old Charleston tradition, Sticky Bun Sundays, back to life! Every Sunday we used to walk down the street to Wild Flour Bakery in Charleston and get the most amazing Cinnamon buns. Well, today we finally found a Minneapolis rival! And feelings so guilty after the major indulgence, we took a romantic walk around Lake of the Isles afterwards. Nothing like a three mile walk with a three pound sticky bun in your stomach :)
And now we curl up to watch the Olympics, play piano, and read up for the upcoming semester for the rest of the day! Ciao!
XOXO
